Injection mold and plastic parts procurement process in China

With the improvement of China's mold manufacturing and injection molding, more and more

European and American companies have come to China to purchase molds and injection molded parts.

But for the first time, this process of procurement in China was somewhat difficult for you.

The next is the procurement process and manufacturing process for plastic molds and injection molded parts.

Plastic Mold procurement process

Before you contact the plastic mold supplier, you should make some preparations(AUTOCAD drawing or samples).

These preparations take time and money, but they will greatly benefit your future project development.

Firstly, you need to have an AUTOCAD drawing or a ready-made sample.

AUTOCAD drawing format we could use:

  • .X_T

  • .IGES

  • .SLDPRT

  • .STL

You need let suppliers know your specific requirements clearly. Usually, your plastic mold inquiry sheet should include.

  • The number of mold cavities,

  • The choice of mold steel and hardness,

  • The polish of the mold surface,

  • Plastic material,

  • Expected mold life,

  • Molding cycle time,

  • Hot runner,

  • Cooling system requirements,

  • Location of the gate,

  • Location of the ejector.

  • At the same time, you should also give details of your injection molding machine.

According to the complexity of the mold, the time for the mold building is usually around 30-60 days. After the first trial sample is ready, the plastic mold company will send you a sample and ask for your confirmation.

If you feel that the sample is qualified, he will continue with the next step of preparing the mold for shipment.

If the sample is not qualified, you should tell him in detail what needs to be improved. He will change the mold and re-send it to you for the check. This process continues until you finally get the right sample.

You can also request a video recording with 3 to 4 minutes for plastic mold testing

If you only need the mold, this transaction ends here.

If you still need plastic parts,  he will continue to help you make plastic parts.

After the plastic parts are completed, he will inform you to prepare for the shipment.
